Media Advisory: Final Count and Recount Results This Week

May 25, 2009

VICTORIA – Elections BC will update results daily at 12 noon and 6 p.m. this week as final count of the 2009 General Election and referendum on electoral reform proceeds in all 85 electoral districts in the province. Final count begins today and is expected to end on Wednesday, May 27. Final count includes all absentee ballots cast by voters outside their voting areas or electoral districts. 

Recounts of election night tallies in two electoral districts, Delta South and Cariboo-Chilcotin, begin today and results will be announced by Elections BC when they are completed, likely today or Tuesday. 

Final count of absentee ballots in Delta South and Cariboo-Chilcotin will proceed after the recounts are completed. In Delta South there are 918 absentee votes and in Cariboo-Chilcotin there are 977 absentee votes still to be considered.
