Media Advisory: Advance Voting Turnout Released Daily

VICTORIA – The advance voting turnout will be released daily at www.elections.bc.ca beginning late this afternoon and concluding on Monday, May 11.
The turnout for the 2009 general election and referendum on electoral reform will be listed by each of 85 electoral districts in alphabetical order and will include provincial totals.
Advance voting is open across the province from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (local time), for four days beginning yesterday (Wednesday) and ending Saturday.
Wednesday’s advance turnout statistics will be released today, today’s turnout on Friday, Friday’s statistics on Saturday and Saturday’s on Monday.
All eligible voters can vote advance and ballots are counted after voting ends May 12 at 8 p.m. (Pacific time) along with all votes cast on May 12, General Voting Day.
In the 2005 General Election, 205,000 of 1.77 million voters voted in advance voting.
