FALL 2008 BY-ELECTIONS REPORT AVAILABLE
VICTORIA – The Report of the Chief Electoral Officer on the Vancouver-Burrard and Vancouver-Fairview By-elections, October 29, 2008, is now available.
The statutory report was presented today to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly by B.C. Chief Electoral Officer, Harry Neufeld.
The 39-page report contains an overview of the Vancouver-Burrard and Vancouver-Fairview by-elections, the official voting results for the two by-elections by voting area, summaries of the election financing reports, and a statement of Elections BC’s by-election expenses.
The by-elections were called following the resignations of Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gregor Robertson in Vancouver-Fairview and MLA Lorne Mayencourt in Vancouver-Burrard. Contested by five candidates in each electoral district, the by-elections resulted in the election of NDP candidate Jenn McGinn in Vancouver-Fairview and NDP candidate Spencer Herbert in Vancouver-Burrard.
